Saheeh al-Jaami as-Sagheer wa Ziyaadatuh'

Al-Imaam as-Suyooti (may Allah have mercy on him) originally had a collection of ahadeeth called 'al-Jaami' as-Sagheer min Hadeeth al-Basheer an-Nadheer' (The Small Collection of the Sayings of the Giver of Glad Tidings, the Warner).

The autheticated version of that collection was done by Shaykh al-Albaani and is called 'Saheeh al-Jaami as-Sagheer wa Ziyaadatuh'.

This beautiful collection unfortunately does not have a full English translation for the Enlgish speaking masses. This version was an attempt to bring in as many ahadeeth translations possible. This is a partial collection of the translations (7.6% complete). It includes combined translations from Abu Sabaayaa’s version.

The hadeeth collection can be downloaded below (all the ahadeeth are authentic):

Your face is a face which brings glad tidings.’ He says, ‘I am your righteous deeds.’ He says, ‘O Lord, hasten the Hour so that I may return to my family and my wealth.’ But when the disbelieving slave is about to depart this world and enter the Hereafter, there comes down to him from the heaven angels with black faces, bringing sackcloth, and they sit around him as far as the eye can see. Then the Angel of Death comes and sits by his head, and he says, ‘O evil soul, come forth to the wrath of Allah and His anger.’ Then his soul disperses inside his body; then comes out cutting the veins and nerves, like a skewer passing through wet wool. When he seizes it, they do not leave it in his hand for an instant before they take it and put it in that sackcloth, and there comes from it a stench like the foulest stench of a dead body on the face of the earth. Then they ascend and they do not pass by any group of angels but they say, ‘Who is this evil soul?’ and they say, ‘It is So and so the son of So and so, calling him by the worst names by which he was known in this world, until they reach the lowest heaven. And whoever assigns partners to Allah, it is as if he had fallen from the sky, and the birds had snatched him, or the wind had thrown him to a far off place. Then his soul is returned to his body, and there comes to him two angels who make him sit up and they say to him, ‘Who is your Lord?’ He says, ‘Oh, oh, I don’t know.’ They say, ‘What is your religion?’ He says, ‘Oh, oh, I don’t know.’ Then a voice calls out from heaven, ‘Prepare for him a bed from Hell and clothe him from Hell, and open for him a gate to Hell.’ Then there comes to him some of its heat and hot winds, and his grave is constricted and compresses him until his ribs interlock. Then there comes to him a man with an ugly face and ugly clothes, and a foul stench, who says, ‘Receive the bad news, this is the day that you were promised.’ He says, ‘Who are you? Your face is a face which forebodes evil.’ He says, ‘I am your evil deeds.’ He says, ‘O Lord, do not let the Hour come, do not let the Hour come.’ ”

#8077 “Islaam will fade just as the color fades from a garment to the point that one will not know what fasting, prayer, sacrifice or charity is. And the Book of Allaah will be taken up in a single night so that not a single verse of it will remain on the Earth, and groups of people - the old men and the elderly – will say: 'We found our fathers to be upon this word, saying 'Laa Ilaaha Illallaah' [there is none worthy of worship except Allaah] so we say it as well.'”

#8100 “Allaah laughs at two men - one of whom kills the other, both of whom enter Paradise: one fights in the Path of Allaah and is killed, then Allaah has Mercy on his killer who becomes a Muslim and fights in the Path of Allaah and is (also) martyred.”

#8102 "Allah (ﺴﺒﺤﺎﻨﻪ ﻭﺘﻌﺎﻠﻰ ) is pleased by a shepherd who, while on the top of a mountain, calls for prayer and prays. Allah the Almighty says, ‘Look at my worshipper—he calls the adhan, and he prays; he fears me. I have forgiven my worshipper, and I have sent him to heaven (meaning that Allah ﺴﺒﺤﺎﻨﻪ ﻭﺘﻌﺎﻠﻰ chose for this person to go to heaven).’ ”

#8106 “The believer will be given the strength of a hundred men in Paradise for (intercourse with) women.”

#8107 “The Devil places three knots in the back of the head of one of you when he is asleep. At every knot, he says: 'The night is long, so keep resting.' So, if he wakes up and remembers Allaah, one knot becomes untied. If he performs ablution, another knot becomes untied. If he prays, then all of the knots become untied and he wakes up fresh and good-spirited. Otherwise, he wakes up mean-spirited and lazy.”

#8136 “Allaah - the Exalted - says: 'I am as My servant thinks Me to be, and I am with him if he calls upon Me.'”

#8153 “At the end of time there will be people who will dye their hair black like the crops of pigeons. They will never even smell the fragrance of Paradise.”

#8170 “People from my nation will descend upon a marsh called 'al-Basrah' at a river called 'Dijlah (Tigris),' over which will be a bridge. It will be populous, and it will be a city belonging to the Muslims. So, when it is the end of time, Banu Qantooraa' (a people with flat faces and small eyes) will come until they descend upon the banks of the river. Its people will then be divided into three groups: one group that will hold onto the tails of cattle and animals - and they will be destroyed, and a group that will only look after themselves - and they will disbelieve, and a group that will keep their children behind their backs and fight - and they will be the martyrs.”

#8182 “The people will nearly ask too many questions, so that one of them may say, ‘Allah created all of creation, but who created Allah?’ If they say this, then say: ‘Allah is the One, Allah is the Self-Sufficient Master. He begets not, nor was He begotten; and there is none coequal or comparable unto Him’ (Surat Ikhlas), and spit (dryly) to your left three times, and seek refuge with Allah (ﺴﺒﺤﺎﻨﻪ ﻭﺘﻌﺎﻠﻰ ) from the Shaytaan.”

#8186 “Soon there will come a time when a man will be reclining on his pillow, and when one of my hadeeth is narrated to him, he will say, ‘The Book of Allah is (sufficient) between us and you. Whatever it states is permissible we will take as permissible, and whatever it states is forbidden, we will take as forbidden.’ Verily, whatever the Messenger of Allah (ﺼﻠﻰ ﺍﷲ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺴﻠﻡ) has forbidden is like that which Allah (ﺴﺒﺤﺎﻨﻪ ﻭﺘﻌﺎﻠﻰ ) has forbidden.”

#8193 “For the believers, the (length of) the Day of Resurrection will be like the time between Dhuhr and Asr.”
